Jude Bellingham’s first-half equaliser for England sparked controversy after Norway players claimed the goal should have been ruled out following a possible touch from the stadium’s Spider Cam cable.
The incident occurred moments before the interval, when the ball appeared to come close to the camera system’s overhead wire before falling into the path of Bellingham, who calmly finished to bring England level.
Norway’s players, including Erling Haaland, immediately protested, arguing that the contact with the cable may have influenced the ball’s trajectory and that the incident should have been reviewed by VAR. However, no video review was initiated, leaving the Norwegian side frustrated.

FIFA’s post-match report later confirmed that the goal was valid, stating that the ball’s built-in tracking sensor recorded no evidence of a change in direction caused by contact with the cable.
The findings effectively cleared the officials of any wrongdoing, confirming that Bellingham’s goal would stand and that there was no technical reason to overturn the decision.
For Norway, the ruling ended their hopes of challenging the controversial moment, while England kept a crucial goal that proved decisive in the contest.
