Paris Saint-Germain delivered a composed and efficient performance at Anfield to eliminate Liverpool and progress to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
Liverpool arrived in the second leg aiming for a historic comeback, but PSG quickly showed their control of the tie. Ousmane Dembélé had an early opportunity to put the visitors ahead but failed to convert from close range.
The match was disrupted early for PSG when Hugo Ekitike was forced off through injury. Despite this setback, the French champions remained solid and dangerous. Liverpool responded with promising moments, including a dangerous cross from Mohamed Salah that almost led to a goal, but Matvei Safonov reacted superbly to make the save. PSG captain Marquinhos also produced a crucial defensive block to deny Virgil van Dijk, ensuring the first half ended level.
After the break, Liverpool increased their intensity and thought they had won a penalty when Alexis Mac Allister went down in the box. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned — a turning point that swung momentum firmly in PSG’s favour.
The breakthrough arrived in the 73rd minute, when Ousmane Dembélé found space outside the area and fired a clinical strike beyond the goalkeeper to put PSG firmly in control of the tie. As Liverpool pushed forward in search of a response, PSG exploited the open spaces, and Dembélé struck again in the 90+1 minute, completing his brace and sealing a comprehensive aggregate victory.
PSG now advance to the semi-finals, where they will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in a blockbuster showdown.
